Emily Carter was a nobody at Rosewood High. She was the girl who sat in the back of the class, always with her nose in a book. She was the girl who never spoke up in class, and who always avoided eye contact with the popular kids. She was the girl who was invisible.

Ethan James was the opposite of Emily. He was the star quarterback of the football team, and he was popular with everyone. He was the guy who everyone wanted to be friends with, and who everyone wanted to date. He was the guy who had it all.

Emily and Ethan lived in two different worlds. They never would have crossed paths, if it hadn't been for one fateful night. Emily was walking home from school when she was attacked by a group of boys. Ethan happened to be passing by, and he intervened. He fought off the boys and saved Emily from harm.

Emily was grateful to Ethan for saving her life. But she was also confused. Why would the school's biggest bully help her? Ethan didn't say much that night. He just helped Emily to her feet and walked away. But Emily couldn't stop thinking about him.

The next day, Emily went to the football game to thank Ethan for saving her. She found him in the locker room, surrounded by his teammates. Emily hesitated for a moment before walking in. She didn't know if she was welcome there. But Ethan saw her and smiled. He waved her over to him.

"Hey," Ethan said. "I'm glad you're okay."

Emily smiled back. "Thank you," she said. "I'm okay."

Emily and Ethan talked for a while that day. Emily learned that there was more to Ethan than met the eye. He was actually a kind and compassionate person. And as they spent more time together, Emily began to fall for him. But she knew that their relationship was forbidden. Ethan was the school's golden boy, and Emily was just a nobody.
