In his autobiography, "Malcolm X: Life from Beginning to End," Malcolm X tells the story of his life from his childhood in Omaha, Nebraska, to his assassination in New York City in 1965. The book is a powerful and moving account of one man's struggle against racism and oppression.

Early Life and Education

Malcolm X was born on May 19, 1925, in Omaha, Nebraska. His father, Earl Little, was a Baptist minister and civil rights activist. His mother, Louise Norton Little, was a homemaker. Malcolm X had seven siblings.

Malcolm X's childhood was marked by poverty and racism. His father was killed by white supremacists when Malcolm X was six years old. His mother was unable to provide for her children, and they were placed in foster care.

Malcolm X attended public schools in Omaha and Lansing, Michigan. He was a bright student, but he was often bullied and harassed by his white classmates. He dropped out of school at the age of 15.

Criminal Activity and Conversion to Islam

After dropping out of school, Malcolm X moved to Boston, where he got involved in criminal activity. He was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

While in prison, Malcolm X converted to Islam. He became a member of the Nation of Islam, a black nationalist group. Malcolm X believed that the Nation of Islam was the only way for African Americans to achieve true freedom and equality.

Civil Rights Activism

After his release from prison in 1952, Malcolm X became a minister for the Nation of Islam. He quickly rose through the ranks of the organization and became one of its most prominent leaders.

Malcolm X was a powerful speaker and writer. He spoke out against racism and oppression, and he called for black self-reliance and independence. Malcolm X's message resonated with many African Americans, and he soon became one of the most influential civil rights leaders of the 1960s.

Malcolm X's activism was not limited to the United States. He traveled to Africa and the Middle East, where he met with other leaders of the black liberation movement. Malcolm X also became a supporter of the Organization of Afro-American Unity.

Break with the Nation of Islam

In 1964, Malcolm X broke with the Nation of Islam. He had become disillusioned with the organization's leadership, and he believed that it was not ng enough to help African Americans achieve their goals.

Malcolm X founded his own organization, the Muslim Mosque, Inc. He continued to speak out against racism and oppression, but he also began to focus on more moderate solutions. Malcolm X believed that African Americans could achieve their goals through education, economic development, and political participation.

Assassination

Malcolm X was assassinated on February 21, 1965, while delivering a speech in Harlem. He was 39 years old. Malcolm X's assassination was a major blow to the civil rights movement. He was a powerful voice for change, and his death was a great loss to the cause of equality and justice.

Legacy

Malcolm X was a complex and controversial figure. He was a brilliant speaker and writer, but he was also a polarizing figure. Malcolm X's legacy is still debated today, but there is no doubt that he was one of the most influential civil rights leaders of the 20th century.

Malcolm X's life is a story of triumph over adversity. He overcame poverty, racism, and oppression to become one of the most respected and influential figures of his time. Malcolm X's life is an inspiration to us all, and his message of hope and change continues to resonate today.
