Ivory Coast, officially known as the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, is a country in West Africa. Ivory Coast is a diverse country, with a population of over 26 million people. The country is home to over 60 different ethnic groups, each with its own unique culture and traditions.

Ivory Coast has a rich history, dating back to the pre-colonial period. The country was first inhabited by hunter-gatherer tribes. In the 13th century, the Akan people migrated to the region and established the Kingdom of Bono. The Kingdom of Bono was a powerful state that controlled much of the territory that is now Ivory Coast. In the 16th century, the Portuguese arrived in Ivory Coast and established trading posts along the coast. The Portuguese were followed by the Dutch, British, and French. In 1893, Ivory Coast became a colony of France.

Ivory Coast gained independence from France in 1960. The country's first president was Félix Houphouët-Boigny. Houphouët-Boigny was a charismatic leader who led Ivory Coast to economic prosperity. However, his rule was also marked by political repression. In 1993, Houphouët-Boigny died and was succeeded by Henri Konan Bédié. Bédié was overthrown in a military coup in 1999. The coup was led by General Robert Guéï. Guéï was himself overthrown in a military coup in 2000. The coup was led by General Laurent Gbagbo. Gbagbo was elected president in 2000 and served until 2011. In 2011, Gbagbo was defeated in a civil war and was replaced by Alassane Ouattara.

Ivory Coast is a major player in African affairs. The country is a member of the African Union, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS),and the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF). Ivory Coast is also a major economic power in West Africa. The country is the world's largest producer of cocoa beans and is also a major producer of coffee, palm oil, and rubber. Ivory Coast is also a major exporter of gold and diamonds.
