The flight was routine at first. Bond had flown this route countless times before, and the weather was clear. But as the plane approached Hoonah, things took a sudden and catastrophic turn.

Without warning, the plane struck a flock of geese, sending feathers and debris flying into the engine. The impact caused the engine to fail, and the plane began to lose altitude rapidly. Bond fought desperately to regain control, but it was no use. The plane crashed into the dense Alaskan wilderness, killing all nine passengers and crew members on board.

Bond survived the crash, but she was seriously injured. She had broken bones, a collapsed lung, and severe internal bleeding. Miraculously, she was able to crawl from the wreckage and find help.

Bond's survival is a testament to her incredible strength and resilience. She had to endure unimaginable pain and hardship, but she never gave up hope. She crawled for hours through the unforgiving wilderness, knowing that if she stopped, she would die.

Finally, after three days, Bond stumbled upon a group of hikers who were able to get her to safety. She was immediately flown to a hospital in Anchorage, where she underwent surgery and began the long road to recovery.

Bond's story is an inspiration to us all. It shows us that even in the darkest of times, we can find the strength to carry on. It also reminds us of the importance of never giving up hope, no matter how difficult the circumstances may seem.

The Investigation

The crash of Taku Air Flight 2653 was investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The NTSB found that the probable cause of the crash was the ingestion of geese into the plane's engine. The NTSB also found that Bond had followed all proper safety procedures and that there was nothing she could have done to prevent the crash.

The NTSB's investigation also revealed that the flock of geese that struck the plane was unusually large. The geese were migrating at the time of the crash, and they were flying at a low altitude. The NTSB believes that the geese were attracted to the plane's lights, which were on at the time of the crash.

The Legacy of Theresa Bond

Theresa Bond's legacy is one of courage, strength, and perseverance. She is an inspiration to us all, and her story will continue to be told for generations to come.

In the years since the crash, Bond has become an advocate for aviation safety. She has spoken to countless groups about the importance of following safety procedures and being aware of the hazards of wildlife strikes.

Bond has also established the Theresa Bond Foundation, which provides support to families of victims of aviation accidents. The foundation also provides scholarships to students who are pursuing careers in aviation.

Theresa Bond is a true hero. Her story is one of hope, courage, and resilience. She is an inspiration to us all, and her legacy will continue to make a positive impact on the world for years to come.
